Gravity Falls Journal 3

I created a mini version of Journal 3 from the amazing Gravity Falls tv show as a gift for a really good friend! This took me forever to complete as it is entirely handmade...leather cut, paper aged and hand torn, sketches and text handwritten...even little photos hand drawn, coloured and glued in AND I found an invisible ink pen to add the secret messages...YES!!! 

The deep red leather is painted with gold acrylic for the corners and hand print with an outline of black. The binding thread is a dark purple and I used a black antique leather strap to keep it closed. The paper inserts are made from recycled paper and aged with watered down acrylic and then hand torn to fit the journal. The magnifying glass is Lego painted gold then varnished before gluing on some twine and attaching it to the journal binding.

I used mainly the Gravity Falls Wiki to find out what information needs to go on the pages with lots of other journal replicas made by some awesome people I found in my interwebz searches. I didn't have time to fill the journal fully with all the info available but I did give pens with the journal so my friend could keep adding to it herself  

This is the most fun gift i have made in a long time and i kept wanting to keep at it even in my normal rest nights when i was to have a break for art making XD 

There will be a journal 1 and 2 to come as well but there is much less in them
